The homeowners of this Berkeley, CA residence were looking for a window treatment solution for the large living room windows that would compliment the rooms mid-century eclectic decor. They wanted coverage for privacy but something that would still allow light in. Color was also an important element in their selection of fabric. The solution Rachael suggested was a window covering made from a sheer fabric that would provide just enough opaqueness to prevent exposure to the passerby but light enough to let the brightness from sunlight transmit. To enhance and accommodate the specific color choice tinted sheers were added as well. The effect is lovely and subtle.

The Berkeley homeowner wanted a window covering that would fit into the limited space over the kitchen window but still enhance the modern design of the remodeled kitchen. This Berkeley Hills home has large picture windows on the back side of the house. While the views are spectacular, bright light, glare and heat can be a problem. The homeowners wanted darkness. This gorgeous, modern Berkeley hills home has extra large windows that take full advantage of the spectacular views of the entire East Bay. The homeowners were looking for an equally modern window treatment solution for the times when the suns’ glare and ensuing heat were too much. Rachael proposed motorized shades that retract to conceal them when not in use and lower easily when needed. To soften yet keep within the modern design of the architecture and interior, long sculptural curtains were added lending warmth and comfort to the homes modern aesthetic.
